Music Director Designate of San Francisco Opera and Principal Guest Conductor of Houston Grand Opera, the much-acclaimed Korean conductor opened the 2020/21 season leading the famed Concert de Paris at the Eiffel Tower, televised worldwide. In North America, Kim has enjoyed recent successes at San Francisco Opera, LA Opera, Washington National Opera, and Houston Grand Opera. Her debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic was quickly followed by debut engagements with Oregon Symphony and Seattle Symphony, and her triumphant return to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Kim has conducted at all the major German houses, and maintains particularly close relationships with the Berlin State Opera and Oper Frankfurt. She established herself in Scandinavia with a successful debut at the Royal Swedish Opera. Recent engagements have included Die Fledermaus (English National Opera, new production), Carmen (Zurich), Il viaggio a Reims (Madrid), La traviata (Marseille), and three productions at the Vienna Volksoper, as well as concerts with the major orchestras of Paris, Bonn, Stuttgart, and Madrid, among others.
