Judith Zunamon Lewis

Judith Zunamon Lewis has been a member of the Lyric Opera Orchestra oboe section since 2004. Prior to joining the orchestra, Judith appeared frequently as soloist, chamber music performer and orchestral musician. She has performed with the symphony orchestras of Chicago, Boston, Honolulu, and Milwaukee. In addition to performances with the Joffrey, Kirov, Bolshoi, and American Ballet Theatre Orchestras, Judith was a former member of Music of the Baroque. Summer festivals have included Ravinia, Grant Park, Bach Week, Bay Chamber, Midsummer's Music, and the Bach Aria Festival.

She has held teaching positions at both DePaul and Northern Illinois Universities, has enjoyed chamber music with the Vermeer Quartet, as well as the Chicago Chamber Musicians, and was a finalist for the 1995 Lucarelli International Solo Oboe Competition. While earning her B.A. and M.A. degrees, with honors, from Northwestern University, Judith was named a Tanglewood Fellow, and her woodwind quintet won first prize at the Coleman Chamber Music Competition.
