Susan Miller Hult
Music Staff
Susan Miller Hult has been an Assistant Conductor and Prompter at Lyric Opera of Chicago, starting with Wagner’s Ring cycle conducted by Maestro Zubin Mehta. She also worked at the Bayreuth Festival in Germany for 4 summers, prompting James Levine's Ring cycle, in addition to the San Francisco Opera's Ring cycles with Maestro Donald Runnicles, and Lyric Opera’s with Maestro Andrew Davis. She toured with Seiji Ozawa's Hennessey Spring Opera Festival in Japan for five seasons. She was a member of the music staff of the San Francisco Opera for five years.
She has prompted in Italian, German, French, Czech, Russian, Spanish, English, Quechua, Japanese, and Latin.
Her training in coaching, prompting, and German diction was through the Merola Program of the San Francisco Opera Center. After receiving her Master's degree from the Eastman School of Music, she studied privately at the Juilliard School and the Metropolitan Opera. Her Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance with minors in Organ and French was received from Southern Methodist University.
