Ron Vodicka
Lighting Designer
The American designer’s work for The Pearl Fishers has previously been seen at New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, and San Diego Opera. Other design credits at SDO include Tosca, Maria Stuarda, Lohengrin, The Marriage of Figaro, and Cinderella. Vodicka designed La bohème, Cinderella, and Lucia di Lammermoor at Palm Beach Opera. His designs also include The Countess, Old Wicked Songs, and Blues for an Alabama Sky (all for San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre); Angels in America (Swine Palace in Baton Rouge); Man of La Mancha and Sweeney Todd (Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista, California); South of Heaven and Sincerity Forever (both for San Diego’s Sledgehammer Theatre); and The Nutcracker (San Diego City Ballet), among other productions. Vodicka has been associate designer for Peter Kaczorowski (La bohème, SDO) and Gregory Allen Hirsch (Man of La Mancha national tour), and lighting supervisor for The Santa Fe Opera (1995 season), A Tuna Christmas/Red, White, and Tuna (national tour, for which he served as production manager), and Tap Dogs (national tour). Currently production stage manager for The Lion King on Broadway, he has worked on national tours of Hairspray: The Musical, Saturday Night Fever: The Musical, Evita, and Man of La Mancha.
