Volunteer at Lyric Opera

Lyric frequently has openings for volunteers to lead student tours of the Lyric Opera House. Becoming a Lyric guide is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to share their love of opera and to learn more about it!

Guides receive extensive professional training focusing on teaching through engagement — questioning, discussion, and problem solving — and must attend multiple workshops throughout the year.

Successful applicants are people who enjoy working with children and teens (grades 3–12), are good public speakers, and are enthusiastic about learning new skills. Guides must also be able to climb multiple flights of stairs with ease, endure long periods on their feet, and be fast-moving.
