What makes each Lyric Opera Chapter so special?

Your Chapter’s personality is a reflection of you and your interests! The best thing is that it can change and adapt quickly. If you are interested in different kinds of activities, I urge you to contact one of your board members so that we continue to be the kind of organization that you want to be a part of.

Unlike most opera guilds and volunteer groups in North America our Chapter community is composed of eleven distinct neighborhood groups. Though Chapters have one single mission, each Chapter has its own unique character. That is why your Chapter can adjust and transform to suit your likes, needs and interests. While some Chapters emphasize education and community lectures, others prefer to focus on presentations of singers, volunteering downtown, or fundraising.  ….. and then there are the “Party Chapters” (you know who you are). In truth, most Chapters do a mixture of all of these things. Whatever we do the important thing is that we have fun doing it!

If you want to try expanding your horizons, as a member of any one Chapter you can participate in the programs and activities of any other Chapter. Over the last ten years many Chapters have begun increasing member interaction by partnering with other Chapters on events. We are working to keep your Chapter program listings up-to-date and posted on our Lyric Opera Chapter page – www.lyricopera.org/Chapters.

To keep Chapters vital, enthusiastic, and fun it is critical for us to maintain a constant influx of new members. The best way that you can help opera and help Lyric thrive is through your support and participation in our Chapters by sharing us with your friends. (And sharing your friends with us). Joining a Lyric Chapter is one of the most accessible ways a person can show his/her support for opera and be a member of one of the premier performing arts institutions in the world. It is also a great way to meet fellow opera lovers, find out more about opera, and get the inside scoop on Lyric goings-on. I value the diversity of the people I meet and the many friendships I have made through my Chapter membership. For me any trip to the Lyric Opera House is like going home to see opera with my many Chapter friends.

For the second half of the 2019|2020 season, the Lyric Chapters will continue to focus on the three goals I set forth last year: Membership, Communication, and Programs plus a new goal of Community Engagement. Thank you again for your participation and help, as we grow and adapt to be an essential part of Lyric's 21st century presence.
