Donizetti, Anna Bolena, Act Two finale: “Coppia iniqua”
King Henry VIII has had his wife, Anne Boleyn (Sondra Radvanovsky), unjustly tried and convicted for treason. Moments before she is executed, Anne declares that she has forgiven Henry and his new wife, Jane Seymour. She will go to her grave with a pardon on her lips, hoping that this will bring mercy and compassion for her from God.
IL TROVATORE - Act Three - "Di Quella Pira" (Russell Thomas)
Ruiz, Manrico's comrade, suddenly returns to report that Manrico's mother Azucena is to be burned at the stake. Manrico calls together his soldiers and sings of how they will save Azucena from death.

The glamorous diva sees much of herself in the young writer, and advises her to embrace her feelings for Arcadio and use their love to inspire her work.
