Safety and wellness
A Note from Lyric
Lyric Opera of Chicago has been carefully monitoring developments regarding the global spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). Our primary concern is the safety and wellness of our audiences, artists and staff. We are taking guidance from public health officials and are closely monitoring the situation. While we continue best practices for facility cleanliness, we are taking additional measures to keep all of our common areas disinfected and have added hand sanitizing stations throughout the building. We encourage everyone who enters our facility to use common sense practices to stay healthy, like frequent hand washing and covering coughs and sneezes, along with staying home if one feels or is ill. We will continue to keep you informed.

Roll Call: Policing in Chicago's Black Community, Then and Now
As Lyric prepares for its June production of the celebrated contemporary American opera Blue, we are continuing a series of Public Programs to engage the community in the content of this new opera. Join us for Roll Call, where we'll discuss the evolving relationship between the Chicago Police Department and Chicago's Black community. Featuring Howard Saffold, retired CPD officer and founder of the Afro-American Patrolmen’s League; and Community Policing Sergeant Jermaine Harris, Chicago Police Department, Austin’s 15th District. Moderated by Chicago Tribune reporter Lolly Bowean, this free panel discussion will take place at Rebuild Foundation’s Stony Island Arts Bank (6760 S. Stony Island). This event is a partnership with WTTW11 and its FIRSTHAND: Gun Violence initiative.
