Lyric Music & More: August 18
Even in the most uncertain times, we rise every day and start anew. Perhaps it’s human nature, but the draw of routine and ritual can be powerful and comforting when other aspects of life are more tenuous. So it’s no wonder that the familiar tune and everyday working spirit of Verdi’s “Anvil Chorus” is such a comfort-watch. We hope someday in the near future we can get back to big, spectacular scenes like this one filled with boisterous crowds and a huge chorus of voices singing to the rafters.
Until then, we continue to bring you the best online content we have to offer. This week, meet our furry friends with Pets of Lyric, find out Jamie Barton’s favorite Chicago meal, watch an in-depth interview with soprano Ailyn Pérez, and enjoy a full solo recital by baritone Will Liverman from Seattle Opera.
