Lyric audiences are in for vocal fireworks galore when Russian soprano Albina Shagimuratova and Polish tenor Piotr Beczała portray doomed Scottish lovers Lucy of Lammermoor and Edgar of Ravenswood, aka Lucia and Edgardo, in this brilliant Italian opera.
The 16th Stars of Lyric Opera at Millennium Park free concert will preview the new season and showcase several stars on Friday, September 9 at 7:30pm. It’s a fabulous final chance to bring out the picnic basket and enjoy a glorious outdoor performance.

In January, Lyric Unlimited invited groups to submit stories about their unique Chicago communities through the Chicago Voices initiative. After a public voting process, three Community Created Performances finalist groups were selected to participate and after a 16-week creative process, they are bringing their stories to life on stage!
Lyric’s summer technical rehearsals kicked off with Das Rheingold. This four-day period allowed for the show’s creative team to collaborate with Lyric’s technical staff on the look and logistics of the new production. Meanwhile, the creative team at The Second City joined forces with Lyric to take a fresh look at Wagner and his epic Ring.
Sunday, September 25 will be the day of reckoning for some of today’s most outstanding young singers. That afternoon they’ll perform in the final auditions for Lyric’s renowned professional-training program, The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center.
Berlioz's visionary masterwork Les Troyens is as epic as the poem that inspired it and the themes that drive the story. It requires years of planning, hundreds of hours of rehearsals, more than 225 performers, and a virtual army of technical and creative staff to present this monumental piece.
