In this musical, Jesus has developed a passionately devoted following in Nazareth. This has caused Judas, one of his apostles, to fear a violent crackdown by the oppressive Roman regime. The high priests, Caiaphas and Annas, feel strongly that something must be done about this man whom the people now refer to as their king. When Judas learns of the priests’ determination to bring Jesus down, the apostle is faced with a terrible choice.
