This event provides a fantastic opportunity for everyone to become familiar with the Opera in the Neighborhoods program and upcoming production of Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World through engaging storytelling sessions.

Storyteller Jasmin Cardenas will interpret the Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World book live at 11:30 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, and 1:30 PM, providing a preview of the upcoming performance tour. Attendees can also create art with the William Estrada Mobile Street Art Cart Project, enjoy live music with DJ Jawon, take photos, collect swag bags, and learn about Lyric's upcoming offerings.

As you wrap up your Art-See Jamboree experience, find a spot on the Great Lawn to enjoy an open dress rehearsal of Sunday in the Park with Lyric, starting at 2:30 PM. This will be a preview of our evening event, which begins at 7:00 PM.

Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World Public Performances

Join us for the full length public performances of Frida Kahlo and the Bravest Girl in the World, a story about facing your fears, learning new things, and the power of friendship. Based on the acclaimed book by author and illustrator Laurence Anholt, the story follows the real-life friendship of Mariana, a young girl living in the heart of Mexico City, and Frida Kahlo, the famed artist. When Mariana plucks up her courage to meet Frida, a friendship blossoms between them. You’ll meet Frida’s husband, artist Diego Rivera, as well as a singing parrot, dog, and monkey.
