Lyric Opera’s world class productions are a major element in the City of Chicago’s standing as a world center for the performing arts, which in turn attracts outstanding new residents, tourism, and economic development. Lyric presents grand opera of the highest international caliber, a capability in which direct production costs are underwritten by Production Sponsors. They provide the vital financial support for our entire range of work, including world and company premieres, American operas and new productions of classic and contemporary masterworks.
Production Sponsors include corporations, foundations and trusts, and individuals. Exclusive sponsorships of a production are available, but often a consortium of co-sponsors is established to underwrite a production. The leadership and generosity of Productions Sponsors is essential to the continuing success of Lyric Opera. In turn, the Sponsors enjoy enormous satisfaction and the opportunity for recognition as well. The opening night festivities around a production, with a dinner hosted by the Lyric’s General Director beforehand, the excitement of the production itself and the private cast party thereafter create lasting memories for a Sponsor and friends, family and clients.
Sponsors also receive visibility through widely distributed Lyric publications, nearly 30,000 audience members per production and radio broadcasts to an additional 21 million radio listeners throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
