Performance Running Times

Curtain Time

Civic Opera House doots open 1.5 hours before the start of every performance. Lyric Opera performances begin promptly at the published times. We realize situations arise that can delay your arrival and we will try to accommodate latecomers in an available section of the house or at a predetermined break, but latecomers may not be seated until intermission. Video screens are available in the lobby so you won't miss a moment of the performance.

Please remember that if you arrive after curtain time or exit the theater during the performance you may miss part of the opera, as seating during the performance is often not possible. Opera matinees begin at 2pm and evening performances at 7:30pm. (Please note: curtain time for Les Troyens matinees begin at 1pm and evenings begin at 5:30pm.) Opening night of the season is 6pm. Musical and event start times vary.

Lyric Chimes

You'll know when it's time to take your seat when you hear the chimes ring in the lobby. Chimes sound ten, five, and one minute before the performance begins and also at the end of intermission.
