Lyric Family Favorites: September 18

This week, Lyric’s 2020/21 Season would have had its opening night, and while everyone at Lyric wishes we could be together, we look forward to more virtual concerts and new experiences in the meantime. While we anticipate the music that lies ahead, we can’t help but think back to some of the incredible opening night operas from the recent past. Just three years ago, The Joffrey Ballet was featured on our main stage in Lyric's production of Orphée et Eurydice. Naturally, the costumes and choreography were more spectacular than ever. Take a close-up look at some of the beautiful costumes with the Joffrey's head of wardrobe, Ellie Cotey, as we celebrate the season when The Joffrey Ballet calls Lyric Opera House its new home.

Then, catch up with For the Love of Lyric star Heather Headley, test your opera knowledge with a fun opening night crossword puzzle, and look ahead to next week’s opera streaming opportunities.

The Costumes of Orphée et Eurydice

Join the Joffrey's head of wardrobe, Ellie Cotey, as she takes you on a tour of the beautiful costumes of Gluck's Orphée et Eurydice.

Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones.
