Lyric Music & More: September 15
We’re still riding the wave of excitement and joy from For the Love of Lyric, which had its premiere on Sunday, September 13. The incredible depth of feeling expressed by the performers made us feel like we were back in the opera house with them. With outstanding performances from each and every artist, the concert stood as a shining example of how music can transcend time and place. The entire concert is now available to watch on demand on Lyric’s YouTube and Facebook pages, completely free. Set up a watch party with friends and make it an evening!
Then, hear the inspiring story of Carson Cook’s Lyric experience, watch a performance of two pieces from Blue, see how Ryan Opera Center ensemble members are transitioning to working at the Lyric Opera House, and watch a tribute to the groundbreaking contralto Marian Anderson starring Denyce Graves and Lawrence Brownlee.

Marian Anderson Award Retrospective
Contralto Marian Anderson was an incredibly versatile performer, singing a broad range of styles from spirituals to opera. She was also a trailblazer in the fight for equal representation for African Americans in the arts. Mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves and tenor Lawrence Brownlee perform in a virtual concert as they receive the Marian Anderson Award from the Kennedy Center.
